Live and teach in the Kingdom of Bhutan, a secluded and mystical country, virtually untouched by the modern world. Develop new teaching techniques, share expertise with local teachers and steep yourself in the concept and practice of Gross National Happiness, all while exploring an authentic Himalayan culture.
The Bhutan Canada Foundation works in partnership with the Ministry of Education in Bhutan to send highly qualified native-English-speaking teachers to teach in public schools across the country. BCF teachers support the further improvement of the Bhutanese education system by modelling innovative teaching techniques, providing professional development to colleagues and encouraging the development of spoken and written English.
Since January 2010, BCF has sent a total of 82 teachers to 53 different communities across Bhutan. These teachers have had a direct impact on the lives of over 11,000 Bhutanese students.
This is a rare chance to work in an education system that is in the midst of an exciting and innovative transformation, as the Ministry of Education works to transition to a more interactive, thoughtful and participatory system of education.
